Follow these easy steps to apply to the event:
- If you worked at any Tournament Magic event last year and you have not changed your email address, just log in to TM2sign.com and update any information before applying to officiate!
- If you have not yet created an account (either last year or this year), then select "New User? Sign Up Here" at TM2sign.com. Then follow the onscreen instructions to complete the signup process. Be sure to assign the "Official" role to yourself in this process.
- Once you are logged in, click the "Tournament Official" link at the top of the page.
- Select "Begin Application Process" on the right to apply to Colorado Crossroads.
- Select an answer to "Are you local or traveling?" in order to gain access to the other required information. After completing the form, click "Submit". We will contact you via email regarding your application.
Colorado Crossroads will be held on two weekends. The older age groups (16-18) play March 2-4 (Sat-Mon). The younger age groups will play March 8-10 (Fri-Sun).
Glenn Sapp is the Head Official. His contact information is below. All play will be at the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th Street, Denver, CO, 80202.
The Clinic/Organizational meeting for Week 1 is on Friday, March 1, 2013; for Week 2 the Clinic/Organizational meeting is on Thursday, March 7, 2013. Both meetings begin at 9:00 pm. Please make every effort to be at the meetings; they should not take more than 1 hour each if everyone is on time. If possible, please report to the meeting room up to one hour prior to the meeting to check in and this will alleviate the log jam and speed up the overall process. At the meeting you will receive the tournament protocol, first day assignments and information of what is expected of officials at this National Qualifier. For those who cannot possibly attend the meetings, there will be a 7:00am meeting at the Championship Desk on Saturday, March 2 or Friday, March 8.
ATTENTION: There will be a USAV "National Level" clinic offered on Friday, March 1, 6:00-9:00pm. Please inform George Egan at USAV if you wish to attend and have already paid for this clinic as part of your "National" renewal. If you want to pre-register, George will collect the appropriate fee and make arrangements for attendance. If you have not made arrangements with George prior to the event, you are still welcome to attend but the charge will be $30 at the door.
Crossroads will provide housing on a limited basis for out of town officials at the Sheraton hotel, less than a quarter mile away (4 blocks) from the Convention Center (and more important, closer to the Denver Diner). We have only 35 rooms available until January 20, 2013 or until the rooms are filled, whichever comes first. We will try to put two officials to a room (unless requests are made to the contrary) but may have to triple up, depending upon the number of out of town responses. As we only have 35 rooms, those who respond first, giving names and credit card numbers for room mates will be the last to have an additional person put into their rooms, trying to give some incentive to quicker response. In any event, room reservations are not complete until we have a name and credit card number for each person in the room.
After January 20th or when the Sheraton housing block fills, we may have some complimentary rooms available at outlying hotels that would require you to drive to the hotel or take the light rail into the Convention Center. If you are able to take advantage of this, let us know.
Contact Wendy Sapp at (303) 584-0377 Ext 1 to sign up for your room. If there is someone you wish to room with, make sure you have a firm confirmation and please have a credit card number ready for each person staying in a room (this is to cover incidental expenses over and above the cost of room and taxes). No reservation is completed and accepted unless and until all credit card numbers are provided.
To qualify for *Free* housing you must work all three days of the event. Requests for free housing will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. Requests made after January 20, 2012 or after the allotment of free rooms is filled will have a discounted rate, but not a free room. These rooms may NOT be at the Sheraton if rooms are not available there - HINT - this hotel fills up FAST. (Extra night hotel fees will be deducted from tournament pay.)
The compensation for this event will be:
| National Officials: |
$32,00 per match plus *free housing |
| Junior National Officials: |
$30.00 per match plus *free housing |
| Regional Officials: |
$26.50 per match plus *free housing |
| Provisional Officials: |
$24.50 per match plus *free housing |
I would like everyone to note that the Crossroads event, in keeping with concerns about our economic environment, has not increased its entry fee over the past seven years.
Out of State officials who work all three days of each event will be guaranteed at least 16 matches. Note: In all probability you will be assigned more, but we can only guarantee 16 matches. As in the past we will make every effort to pay you on the last day of the event.
The required uniform for the events will be the standard white official's shirt, navy blue slacks, black belt, white socks and white tennis shoes with the appropriate USAV Official's patch. USAV Official's patches (Regional and Provisional) will be available for sale at a nominal fee for those who do not have one.
Crossroads will partner with the "Dig Pink" initiative again this year. Dig Pink Day will be the second day of each session (Sunday March 3 and Saturday March 9). If you have last year's Dig Pink shirt, please bring it. If you need a shirt, please indicate on your application (please also indicate the size needed) so we can make sure we have one ready for you.
If you would like to be a part of our staff, please fill out a reply form for officials in TM2sign.com. The form will be made available starting on November 28. Instructions for applying appear above. Your completed form must be submitted by February 8, 2013. PLEASE REMEMBER the cut off for housing is January 20, 2012 or whenever the housing block is filled.
Official who have attended Colorado Crossroads in the past would agree that it has a history of being a well-run event and the Front Range staff treats the officiating corps with respect. This year will be no exception.
